The purpose of classification is to determine that a player is eligible to compete in Boccia and thereafter to group players appropriately for fair and equitable competition. Classification provides a structure for competition that ensures that a player’s impairment is relevant to sport performance.
The recognised classification system for players is that offered by the Boccia International Sport Federation (BISFed).
Boccia is an inclusive sport, in which anyone can play. However, to compete internationally all players must hold a BISFed classification.
