15 year old Lewis Currie, from East Kilbride has just been announced as a member of the squad for the British Taekwondo European Championships (Para-Poomsae) which will take place in Italy at the end of October.
Lewis has been training for 3 years and currently trains with Master Jonathan Mcdade at Elite Martial Arts Academy in East Kilbride where he does this 3 times a week. He also now trains monthly at the National Taekwondo Centre in Manchester with the Great Britain Para-Poomsae Squad.
Lewis also got picked to represent Great Britain at the World Championships in Turkey in February this year and got through to the semi finals.
Lewis also competes in swimming and trains once a week with Clyde Valley Beavers Swimming Club at Wishaw Sports Centre and regularly competes at swimming gala competitions. He has recently been selected to represent the West of Scotland at the upcoming Scottish Disability Sport National Championships in November.
Lewis is determined to not let his disability stop him and his goal is to help others with disabilities achieve their full potential in life.
