Congratulations to Michael Mellon from Cardenden, Disability Sport Fife and Dundee Dragons who received the East Kilbride Sports Council Award award as disabled athlete of the year at the Dunfermline and West Fife Sports Council Annual Awards held at the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline earlier this evening.
Michael was the only Scot in Team UK at the Invictus Games in Sydney last year where he won three team medals in sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby. Michael also excelled at home as the leading physically disabled javelin thrower in the country.
Michael follows in the footsteps of great Scottish and GB internationals like Andrew Lindsay, Rebecca Lee, Craig Rodgie, Owen Miller, Maria Spencer, Kieran Steer and Alison Patrick who are all previous winners.
Runners up in this category were Callum Sloan, Billy Allan, Carter Taylor, Glen Livingston, Owen Miller and Connor Brown.
Michael is an outstanding role model for the disability sports movement in Scotland and beyond.
