DAY ONE

The blue team had a great first day at the Scottish Disability Sport 2025 Summer Camp!

After all participants had arrived and checked in at Bagadiush, we all had a bite to eat before heading to Loch Insch for some activities.

The blue team got to try archery first and it’s fair to say that it was a great hit! Every member of the blue team gave it their all and loved it. Keegan and Sienna even managed to hit the bullseye!

After archery, the blue team moved over to try some ice hockey. Whilst there was an absence of ice, the outdoor area did emulate an ice rink quite well and the blue team worked really well as a team throughout the activity.

After ice hockey, the team headed to the loch to try some watersports. The sun was shining, making for a stunning evening on Loch Insch. Of course, the wind also decided to pick up, which certainly tested the skills and nerves of the blue team as they climbed into the canoes.

Layla McCloskey even said afterwards, “Thank goodness I’m back on dry land.”

Despite the somewhat challenging conditions, everyone did a great job and had a lot of fun! It was also Fraser’s very first time in a canoe and although he was a little unsure at the beginning due to the choppy waters, he excelled. He was even using a paddle come the end of the session. Well done, Fraser!

Day two sees us all going on an expedition! Stay tuned to find out how the blue team get on. Two young boys smiling to camera in the canoe

DAY TWO

Teamwork made the dreamwork as team blue aced the expedition on day two of the SDS Summer Camp 2025!

The expedition took the participants through the forest, along Loch Morlich’s beach before looping back to Glenmore Lodge.

Laura Pilkington, a volunteer and member of the blue team, witnessed how everyone continually helped each other throughout the walk.

Laura said: “For a lot of people it was the furthest they had walked and they really thought that they couldn’t do it at the start but they pushed through. I think there was a lot of people supporting each other through those tough times, which was really lovely to see.”

There were plenty of challenges along the way, with some rough terrain to navigate. However, the blue team’s team spirit ensured their success.

Laura said, “We had different chairs but we all switched around and had different shots, so it wasn’t just one person using the chair. Everyone knew that everyone needed a little bit of a hand so that was good teamwork.”

Very well done, blue team!
