Three Fife AC Para athletes made an immense impact at the British Miler Club (BMC) Regional Races at Scotstoun on Friday 2nd June. All three set personal best performances and sent out a clear message to track opponents that they may have limited experience over 3K but they are a force to be reckoned with.
Owen Miller from Dunfermline competes in the T20 class and is coached by Steve Doig. Owen is a specialist 1500 metres runner and his time of 9.08.37 was a track PB over 3K and the best of the three Fife AC stars.
Sam Fernando from Gateside is ranked one in the T20 class under 20 and his time of 9.10.40 was a track PB by over 9 seconds. Derek Rae from Kirkcaldy is ranked one for 1500 metres through to the marathon in the T46 class and this was his first track outing over the 3K distance. Derek finished 7th overall in 9.19.98. Sam and Derek are coached by Ron Morrison.
All three athletes will be competing against one another once again on Wednesday 14th June at the Disability Sport Fife (DSF) Track and Field Championships at Pitreavie. Early signs are that this will be the best attended DSF championships with almost 100 track events.
