The 2018 Disability Sport Fife Annual Badminton Championships were held at Kirkcaldy Leisure for the fifth successive year on Wednesday 13th March. Inspired by the late Russell Hogg, the Championships are supported by Fife Council and Fife Sports and Leisure Trust.
The main championships winners and runners up were as follows:
Junior Champion and winner of the Russell Hogg Cup – Scott Todd Glenrothes HS. Runner up Caitlin De Soyza Balwearie HS.
Senior women’s champion and winner of the Mary Wilson Cup – Mary Wilson Edinburgh. Runner up Pauline Bryson.
Senior Men’s champion and winner of the John Hick cup – Lloyd Simpson Methil. Runner up Steven Anderson Glenrothes.
Other section winners and runners up were as follows:
Division 2 juniors: winner Leo Cord Balwearie HS and runner up Acaymo Llanos Balwearie HS.
Division 3 juniors: winner Milosz Sitek Balwearie HS and runner up Greg Nicoll Balwearie HS
Division 5 seniors/juniors: winner Tanis Murphy East Fife CSS and runner up Finlay Davidson Inverkeithing HS
Division 4 seniors: winner Ryan Peterson East Fife CSS and runner up Tristan Rankine West Fife CSS
Division 3 seniors: winner Wullie Christie East Fife CSS and runner up Jamie Thomas Aberlour
Division 2 seniors: winner Phillip Callander West Fife CSs and runner up Stephen Russell Glenrothes.
All umpiring throughout the day was carried out by Sports Leaders from Kirkcaldy HS under the guidance of DSF badminton lead coach and Active Schools coordinator Alex Bird. The Championships are part of the Disability Sport Fife Annual Sports Festival supported by Fife Council and Fife Sports and Leisure Trust.
