- The Commonwealth Games Games takes place in Gold Coast, Australia between the 4 April – 15 April 2018.
- There will be a total of 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 nations and territories involved in the Games.
- These will be the most inclusive in Commonwealth Games history with 38 medal events across a record seven sports with around 300 Para athletes (73% more medal opportunities than Glasgow 2014 and 45% more athletes).
- Team Scotland will comprise of 224 athletes competing across 18 sports.
- Team Scotland is set to be represented in six Para Sports in Gold Coast: aquatics, athletics, cycling, lawn bowls, powerlifting and triathlon.
- SDS is the lead body and has been responsible for the development and selection of the Para Lawn Bowls programme.
- The 18 Scottish Para athletes selected for the Gold Coast Games is the largest to be selected for an away Games.
- 56% of the Para athletes on Team Scotland are female.
- 56% of the Para Team will make their debut at the Gold Coast Games.
- 22% of the Para Team are blind or visually impaired.
- 11% of the Para Team use a wheelchair for sports.
- 44% of the Para Team are ambulant and have a physical disability.
- 22% of the Para Team are non-disabled.
- 61% of Para Team have been supported by SDS.
- At the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Scotland won a total of 7 medals (11% of the total medals available for para events) including 3 golds (14% of the total gold medals available for para events).
